Whole Grains
I’ve sort changed my stance on whole grains. I used to think they wouldn’t be worth it because I believed hardly anyone got in proper amounts of fruits and veggetables (or 5-9 servings a day). However, I do believe that if you can get in any plant-based food, this is a good thing including whole grains. Whole grains do include phytonutrients, but you must be sure to actually get the whole grain. To be sure of this, you have to make sure that “whole grains” are included in the ingredients list because many times it’s not real whole grains, it’s colored to make it look like whole grains. The refining process actually removes the phyto-nutrients and other vitamins and minerals from the bread leaving you with essentially sugar candy. Don’t buy it and don’t believe the food companies that pass this crap off. But don’t justify eating only whole grains if you don’t get in enough fruits and vegetables, you must get this stuff in to.
